After a downright embarrassing loss to the lowly Pittsburg Pirates the Amazins head out west to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks, who have the best record in baseball at 20-8.  The Mets will face 3 of Arizona’s top pitchers in a rotation that may very well be the best in the majors. Before everyone panics let’s not forget the Mets are 13-1 in their last 14 games in Arizona, they seem to always play very well there. This is going to be a big test for the Mets as we all get to see how they match up with the best in the NL. It’s very important that they hold their own in the desert.

After the Diamondbacks it’s on to Hollywood to square off against Joe Torre and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Notes:Alou could be back in the lineup as early as Friday

Schiender could be facing time on the 15 day DL because of his infected thumb, although he is now out of the hostipal

A free agent at the end of the season, Perez, if nothing else, has been consistently inconsistent through out his career. He will most likely receive his big contract via free agency… as met fans the question we need to ask ourselves is do we want to pay for inconsistency? And if we do not want to pay him what other options do we have? Do we go after someone else in the free agency? Is there anyone in our farm system that might be able to mature over the course of this year and take the place of Perez next year?
