Detroit Death-Grip
13. May 2008 by critter.
Hey! Anybody else ever hear of the NHL?!? lollmaorotfljkjk. Anyway, last night the Red Wings applied the Vulcan Death Pinch to the Stars while on Dallas ice. Now the Stars must do what only 3 teams in sports playoff history have ever done, come back from a 3 - 0 deficit. But they’ll be lucky if they make it to game 5.
Dallas put up a good effort in the first two periods, but Detroit just shut them down in the final period. They have way too many offensive weapons (Henrik Zetterberg skipped ahead as the playoff points leader) and Chris Osgood is on fire (has now extended a career high of 9 straight playoff wins).
Dallas has shown up for the past two games, but has proven unable to keep up with Detroit in the final stretch of each game. I think Dallas will put up their best effort in game 4, but Detroit can sense the Cup is waiting and I expect them to finish the job.
Game 3 of Pitt vs. Philly is tonight and I think Philly can actually take one of these games on home ice. For their sake, it better be tonight otherwise they’ll face the same task on Dallas’ doorstep; and like Detroit, Pittsburgh is just too darn good to drop a 3-0 game lead.
Cheerleaders in baseball!

Figueroa, on the Nationals, who were singing, chanting and cheering against the Mets from their dugout, during last night’ game:
“They were cheerleading in the dugout like a bunch of softball girls. I’m a professional, just like anybody else. I take huge offense to that. If that’s what a last-place team needs to do to fire themselves up, so be it. I think you need to show a little bit more class, a little bit more professionalism. They won tonight, but again, in the long run, they are who they are…Even for the manager and the coaching staff to let that stuff carry on, it’s truly unprofessional. That’s why they are who they are.”
Milledge, regarding Figueroa’s comments…
“Well, what were we supposed to do? We’re not supposed to cater to anybody on the opposing team. We’re not going to cater to him or anybody else. We’ve been down the last couple of days and we wanted to get something going, and if he doesn’t like it, then he’s got to deal with it. Anybody don’t like it, they just have to deal with it.”
