Mets head to St. Louis
The Mets spilt the 4 game weekend series with the Yankees, winning the season series 4 to 2. It is only the second time the Mets won the season series with the Yanks, the Yankees now lead 37-29. The Mets played well against the crosstown rivals with maybe the exception of Friday night’s game. They got decent starting pitching, the bullpen looked good, and with the offensive explosion on Friday afternoon showed they can hit. All in all its a good way to start off this important 12 game stretch where they play good teams.
The Mets now travel to St. Louis to take on the wild card leading Cardinals. The Cards are 6 games ahead of the Mets in the wild card standings so this is a great opportunity to make up some ground and show that they are a playoff contender. The Mets will get the series started off tonight with John Maine, who will be followed by Tony Armas Jr. making his first start for the Mets. Hopefully Pedro can rebound from his poor performance against the Yanks. Pelfrey will look to continue his good pitching of late. The Met bats seem to be hitting a little better. David Wright is in a groove right now, he is 5th in the NL with 64 RBIs. Jose Reyes is 8th in the Majors with 99 hits. Also having Ryan Church back in the lineup and feeling good is only a plus and should help the Mets has they start the second half of the season.

It’ll be just like last time when they beat the Yanks over the weekend and everyone jumped up and down proclaiming it would be a positive turning point in the season, and then went on to just be horrible again.
All I’m interested in is what new toys can Jose Reyes find to throw around in the dugout.

Jeter rules, Reyes drools.
30. June 2008 at 21:43
Jeter: .284, 47 R, 86 H, 4 HR, 35 RBI, 5 SB, .344 OBP
Reyes: .297, 60 R, 99 H, 9 HR, 34 RBI, 28 SB, .360 OBP

Reyes: 3 thrown objects, 2 temper tantrums
Jeter: classy as f*ck
1. July 2008 at 15:56
Reyes: 9,000 walk/jog to first base on popup
Jeter: 10,000,000 first bases that he’s stampeded through regardless of how “easy” of an out he just hit.
1. July 2008 at 15:59
Jeter: 34 years old.
Reyes: 25 years old. And he had to wait until Jeter was 34, just so he could barely have better numbers than Jeter before the all star break……

It’s useless to argue. Met fans, like this “glendo,” have nothing more to grasp onto b/c they have not experienced…what is it called again? Oh yes, a championship, in a very very very long time…
It’s cool though. They can talk about stats, how much ‘potential’ all their guys have, and what not, but that won’t change the fact that my team, the Yankees, are and always have been, the superior team.
Sincerely,
Hank

sorry reyes cares about the game, nobody said anything when paul o’neil was destroying the dugout with his bat or when micky mantle kicked his glove all the way out to center field, in fact they loved that stuff
and besides the mets suck right now, worry about your own team that is trail the TAMPA BAY RAYS by 7 games

ha, look at “glendo” getting all excited. keep your shirt on buddy. the yankees will be in the hunt, just like every other year. can’t say the same for the mets, who can’t keep up with the fish!
