Cano to LA?
24. July 2008 by gchacko.
Dodgers have an interest in Robinson Cano and might be willing to deal Derek Lowe and outfielder Matt Kemp, but the Yankees aren’t inclined to part with the red-hot second baseman unless there is a front-of-the-rotation-type starter coming to The Bronx. Lowe, who has the stomach for big games and has AL East experience with the Red Sox, doesn’t fit that bill.
If Lowe isn’t a frontline starter, he has to be considered a strong #2. Anyway, I’m not sure exactly what to make of this rumor. The idea of the Dodgers trading Lowe and Kemp for Cano - is that speculation or inside information?
Yankees execs meet today to discuss their deadline plan. Brian Cashman is sticking to his guns about holding on to his best young players.
First Place New York Mets

Carlos Delgado is erasing his first half of the season as he continues to heat up. Delgado hit a tie-breaking two-run double in the eighth inning Thursday, leading the Mets to a 3-1 victory and a series win over the Phillies.
After pinch-hitter Robinson Cancel singled to lead off the eighth and Phillies reliever J.C. Romero intentionally walked David Wright, Delgado laced a pitch into the left field corner to plate both runners. Billy Wagner recorded the final three outs for the save.
Oliver Perez pitched 7 2/3 nearly flawless innings to open the game for the Mets, striking out a season-high 12 batters and allowing one run on six hits.
Huge win for the Mets as they take sole possession of first place in the East and bounce back from that horrible loss on Tuesday. They have to keep it up as the Cardinals come in over the weekend.
The Mets are 9–4 against the Phillies this season.

easy David Wright people might think your immature.
Public Enemy No.1?

Ryan Madson wasn’t the only one upset when Jose Reyes took him deep to give the Mets the lead for good last night. Reyes kept his finger in the air all the way from first to second base. Phillies radio personality Larry Anderson took exception to Reyes’ antics and said “somebody oughta put one in his neck.” It’s too bad Jamie Moyer is pitching today because I’m not sure if Reyes would even notice if Moyer plunked him.
So what Reyes put his hand in the air after hitting a huge 3-run tie breaking homerun against the rival Phillies. It was a big game give me a break. Jimmy Rollins did the same thing two days ago when he hit the double in the ninth. Also Shane Victorino, who I am beginning to hate more and more, stood at home plate for like 5 seconds staring into the Mets dugout after scoring the tying run. So calm down Phillies, I think your getting a little scared.
